I mean, if you’re going to do something wrong, do it right. But it seems anything I’m interested in or want doesn’t exist! I was looking at Astras — excuse me, Astra, since there’s never more than one — again. And I was like, well, I could maybe get an Allroad for less than a low mileage Astra, and use the remaining money and light it on fire whilst attempting to keep it running.
But in spite of my bizarre interest in a V6 Camry SE coupe which are all auto, I find myself wary of an automatic Allroad. And believe it’s because of this: a Camry coupe is all the car I could possibly need . Basic conforts, reliable, mindless, 2 doors. Whereas an Allroad is everything I want... in excess . All-wheel drive, twin-turbos, wagon, big, and offensively unreliable. Add a stick shift and it’s the most indulgent vehicle I could possibly want.
Ultimately, over months of checking, I notice that the manual typically fetches more (if it runs and drives) thus rendering my “why buy an Astra when I could get and maintain and Allroad for a comparable price” excuse harder to defend.
My NA64 Celica GT search continues to be disheartening, but I’m finding myself more and more drawn to a the more common second gen coupe:
If you’re wondering why I’m going on about all this again, it’s because I get my Holiday bonus this Monday and all I can think about is how I want to spend it on a car for meeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

That wouldn’t even fit in my driveway (which is very small)

Funny that someone in my school parking lot has a Camry coupe. Not sure if SE or V6. You ever think of using your bonus on importing a old Celica from Japan? It’s going to be easier....

I wouldn’t make that kind of investment in a Celica right now. There’s about three of these floating around locally on CL right now, an example:

They’re going to be a little rough, but that obviously doesn’t deter me with older Toyotas.
Also if and when I do import, it would be a BJ70.

Just looked at Autotrader here in the U.K. of the 243 A6 Allraods, only seven are manual, a ridiculous 236 are auto. Only one of the 243 is petrol.
Figures look better for the A4 Allroad, 200 vehicles, 115 auto and 85 manual, diesel 194 and petrol six.

Not yet. Would help if I actually returned call and had a more open schedule, but shit is crazy right now.

Good luck buddy. You could always ask the guys at arrive Auto to look at the auctions for a suitable ride.

I may have an acquiantence who has dubious access to dealer auctions. We were talking about the Allroad the other day.

Those make the Allroad look as sensible as a Camry. The Chyslerati is kind of boss though.

The Volvo is pretty nice.
I throw Maser in there for shits and giggles. I wonder if you pulled up in that to Exotics at RTC you’d get in the roped off area?
